Hands on Parenting – Dixie Lynn & Tucker Stevens – Family Therapy
The doorbell rang, pulling 35-year-old Dixie Lynn from her thoughts. She opened the door to find a man she assumed was her new stepdaughter Alexandria’s boyfriend. “You must be Tucker,” Dixie said warmly, ushering him inside to join his girlfriend in the living room. “How was your drive, dear?”
“Long. But beautiful country out here,” Tucker replied, unable to keep his eyes off Dixie’s ample cleavage peeking out from her low-cut blouse.
As she guided Tucker to the others, Dixie couldn’t help but admire his slim, toned physique. When he reached out to shake her hand, their fingers lingered a moment too long. She felt a flutter in her stomach. Dixie mentally chided herself. He’s a kid, her inner voice scolded. Barely 18. But seeing him looking so handsome, his baby blue eyes wide and curious, ignited a spark Dixie hadn’t felt in a long time.
The last six months had been lonely ones for Dixie after her husband Peter died suddenly of a heart attack. Successfully juggling the demands of her high-powered law career and single-handedly raising her 16-year-old daughter Lily had kept her busy, but left her emotionally drained. It was nice having a new man around to help break up the monotony.
Tucker looked every bit the All-American boy. With his chiseled jaw, messy surfer hair, and a tall, lean physique, he reminded Dixie of a sunny afternoon spent barefoot on a beach picnic, nibbling on grapes as she sipped a drink with a little umbrella. She imagined how good his skin would feel beneath her fingers, the warmth of his young buck body pressed against hers…
“Dixie?” Alex called impatiently from the living room. “Are you going to come say hi or what?”
“Yes, darling!” Dixie answered unconvincingly. She guided Tucker down the hallway, her fingertips just barely touching the small of his back. “I’m coming.”
