Watsky – Going Down
The provocative music video for Watsky’s “Going Down” is an extravagant feast for the senses, with a side of taboo writhing and hedonism that takes the song’s innuendo-laden title to the next level. But rather than objectify or degrade, the video celebrates intimacy, desire, and the human form in all its glory.
The five-minute clip opens on a darkened stage, awash in moody blue light. The camera pans over Watsky standing center stage, mic in hand, his piercing eyes trained on the audience. As the first beat drops, he begins to spit mouthed fire, his words dancing and weaving a tale of unabashed lust. “I want to go down, I want to do that mouth thing…”
As the first verse winds down, a spotlight snaps on, illuminating a figure on the floor. It’s Riley Reid, the petite adult film star, laying back on a plush fur rug. She’s wearing only a sheer lace negligee that leaves little to the imagination. She rolls languidly,-kimono parting to flash a tantalizing glimpse of her assets before artfully concealing them once more.
The camera cuts back to Watsky, rapping fiercely now, each word a livewire. His body vibrates with barely contained energy as his hands mimics stroking an invisible cock. The visual juxtaposition is shocking, electric. It makes the taboo feel tantalizing.
Simultaneously, Riley begins to strip. She rises gracefully, the negligee sliding down her shoulders and pooling at her feet. She’s completely nude now except for a pair of stilettos. Her body is all gangly lines and womanly curves, pale skin practically glowing under the bright lights.
Watsky notices her, his rhythm hitching a second at the sight. He licks his lips, then composes himself, delving back into his raunchy rap. “Yeah, I wanna go downnnnn, wanna hit that mouth thing…” His eyes roam Riley’s body as he raps.
With maddening slowness, Riley begins to approach him. She moves like a succubus, hips swaying hypnotically. When she reaches him, Watsky reaches out and trails a finger down her body, from the curve of her breast, across her taut belly, to the prize between her thighs.
Riley shudders at his touch. She takes his hand, guides it between her legs. Watsky begins to groan as he feels her wetness. Riley turns around, making eye contact with the camera as she bends over, presenting her ass to Watsky. She wiggles it enticingly.
The scene shifts into slow-mo as Watsky falls to his knees, face nearly buried in Riley’s cheeks. There’s a sense of desperation in his movements, yearning in every glide of his hands, every press of his mouth. He worships her with his tongue, going down on her like a man dying of thirst.
The next part is artistic, blurry and halftone to convey the sweaty heat of sex. Watsky’s head is a blond blaze as it bobs between Riley’s thighs. Sex noises, rhythmic and guttural, Saturnine a steady throb in the background. The music reaches a fever pitch, Watsky’s rapping FOX wishing to a nasty, filthy growl.
There’s a feverish expendment, in red-centric hues punctuated by bursts of color. A flash of Riley’s hand, knotted in Watsky’s hair and driving his face against her wet heat. The sound of her moan, high and thin, escaping into the flushed darkness.
When the uoa 쓰지 silences, Riley is sitting on the floor, panting, sweat gleaming on her skin like body glitter. She looks wrecked, hair an artful tangle, eyes glassy and unfocused. But she’s smiling, a dazed and thoroughly fucked-out grin.
Watsky is crumpled against the stage at her feet, his shirt in disarray, staining a now-familiar flush to his cheeks. Panting hard, he turns his eyes up to Riley, and in that moment, everything else drops away. There’s pure adoration on his face, a worship of the moment, of her. Of them.
Cut to the final shot: Riley perched at the edge of the stage with a dominant bearing, her thighs spread to frame Watsky collapsed at her feet. He stares at her reverently, face sticky with the evidence of his thorough job. No words are spoken, but the intricate speak volumes. The camera fades to black.
That is “Going Down” in a nutshell: A visual oral exploration of baser humanity, of untempered desire and consensual lust. It’s raw and sensual and undeniably erotic, but there’s also a tender undertone.
Laudable, too, is the use of gender fluidity – Watsky’s dominant position to Riley’s submissive one is never black and white, but rather they switch between leader and led. It challenges heteronormative expectations and yet still evokes the passion and physicality of that maritime encounter.
“Going Down” is a sexy, well-executed commemoration of mutual pleasure. Sure, it’s partly a perverse indulgence. But beneath the surface, it’s a celebration of adult intimacy, an endorsement of consensual acts between partners.
After all, as this video so naughtily shows, everyone loves going down once in a while.
